Prehearse Terms and Conditions

Acceptance and scope

These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of the Prehearse application and associated services made available by Umber Lab Limited ("Umber Lab", "we", "our", or "us"). By accessing or using Prehearse, you agree to be bound by these Terms to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

Not therapy or professional advice

Prehearse is a conversation-practice tool. The AI role-play partner and coaching feedback are simulations generated by artificial intelligence. They are not therapy, counseling, psychological treatment, medical advice, legal advice, or professional advice of any kind, and no professional-client relationship is created by using the app.

If you are experiencing a mental-health crisis or thoughts of self-harm, do not use the app for support. Contact local emergency services or a crisis line, such as 988 in the United States.

AI-generated content

Responses in Prehearse are generated by AI models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, inconsistent, or unrealistic. Real people will not necessarily respond the way the AI does. You are responsible for your own decisions and real-world conversations.

Eligibility and accounts

Some functionality requires an account created through an email verification code or Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for the accuracy of account information and for maintaining reasonable control over access to your devices, credentials, and email accounts used in connection with Prehearse.

License and permitted use

Subject to compliance with these Terms, Umber Lab Limited grants a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Prehearse for its intended personal and lawful purposes. No ownership rights in the app, its software, branding, or related content are transferred to you.

Prohibited conduct

You must not misuse the app, attempt to bypass technical restrictions or safety measures, use the service to generate harassing, threatening, or unlawful content, interfere with the API service, reverse engineer protected portions of the service except where expressly permitted by law, or use the service in a manner that creates material legal or operational risk.

User content and AI processing

The scenarios and messages you submit are processed by AI models to provide role-play and coaching functionality, as described in the Privacy Policy. You remain responsible for the content you submit and must not submit content you are not entitled to use.

Service availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue any part of the app, including features, AI functionality, model selection, rate limits, or availability, at any time and without guaranteeing uninterrupted service.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the app or any account where we reasonably believe there has been misuse, abuse, harmful conduct, violation of these Terms, technical interference, platform-policy violations, legal risk, or security risk.

Account deletion

You may delete your account from within the app via Settings. The web deletion page at https://umberlab.com/prehearse/account-delete provides instructions and support contact information for users who cannot access the app. Rehearsal data stored locally on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the app.

Intellectual property

Prehearse, including its software, visual design, branding, content selection, text, structure, and related materials, is owned by or licensed to Umber Lab Limited and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited use rights expressly granted in these Terms, no license or right is granted by implication, estoppel, or otherwise.

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Prehearse is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, or reliability.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Umber Lab Limited and its affiliates, personnel, contractors, licensors, and service providers shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, punitive, or similar damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, business opportunity, or service availability arising out of or related to the use of, inability to use, or reliance upon Prehearse or its AI-generated content, including decisions made or conversations held based on rehearsals in the app.

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Umber Lab Limited from claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses arising out of your misuse of the app, violation of these Terms, infringement of rights, or unlawful conduct in connection with Prehearse.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Prehearse after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Umber Lab Limited, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights or non-waivable legal protections that apply under the laws of your jurisdiction.
